18 Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 30, 2011

With the listening heart we received last week we turn to the Lord for more wisdom which he pours out to us in abundance. It’s not the wisdom of this world but the wisdom of God, in whose image we have been made. This weeks wisdom is simple: imitate Jesus by teaching, healing and feeding. You may think you do not have the resources, but that is a lie. Bring what you have to Him, and allow Him to use you!

When God promised King Solomon that he would receive WHATEVER he asked for, the King prayed for an understanding heart.

Jesus shows us what an understanding heart (wisdom) is,  uses four images divided in two categories: a treasure or a pearl, possessed once everything else has been sold.  And, good fish after being sorted out or the new & old selected from a storeroom.

The question for us then…what are we asking for, what are we pursuing?

“The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed…like a mustard seed….like yeast…”  TIME TO PLANT A SEED!

What am I doing in my life to make sure that God’s “seed” finds a place deep within me and is able to take root?

The “yoke” of which Jesus speaks this weekend is an instrument of union. An instrument that allows us to share in our labors and our responsibilities.
Do you allow God a share in your burdens? Do you share God’s burdens?
